Roman nightlife

Rome is as buzzing at night time as it is during the day. As the sun sets the numerous monuments and churches along side the majestic squares are lit up, providing a spectacular backdrop for walking about the city at night.

Geographically speaking, the aortas of modern nightlife include Testaccio, San Lorenzo and Trastevere (which is ironic as rabbit-warren Trastevere is the city’s ‘least changed the “rione” or neighbourhood since medieval times) and do not, surprisingly, include The Vatican and Fiumicino.
Clubbing enthusiasts should head to the discoteche in Testaccio, with the area around Piramide metro station and spreading down the Via Ostiense containing the highest number of nightclubs. Metaverso in particular has offbeat DJs and slightly cheaper entry prices, while Villaggio Globale is renowned for its big live acts. Tourists looking for a bar with trendy sophistication should check out Akab.

Although today's nightlife might not be quite the same as the decadency captured in Fellini's La dolce Vita, tourists to Rome can still spend a night in one of many glamorous nightclubs. Some of the most popular include Gilda, frequented by politicians and showbiz stars, Goa, which has electronic music and art exhibitions, and Ex Magazzini and Black Out rock club, both of which showcase live music.

Don’t worry…you will find what you need!
