1°-2° arrondissements

The 1st arrondissement (Ier arrondissement) is one of the 20 arrondissements of Paris, France. It is the least-populated of the arrondissements, though it is also one of the smallest by land area. Much of the arrondissement is used for business and administration.
It is is located mostly on the Right Bank, but it also covers the west end of the Ile de la Cité. It is one of the oldest arrondissements in Paris; the Ile de la Cité formerly being the heart of the Roman city of Lutetia, conquered in 52 b.C, while some parts on the right bank (Les Halles included) date back to the early Middle Ages.
A significant part of the arrondissement harbours the Louvre and the Tuileries Gardens.
