Madrid Barajas Airport
Madrid Barajas Airport is the main airport for Madrid, there are 2 others, Madrid Torrejon & Madrid Cuatro Vientos but they are of little importance to visitors of Spain. Madrid Barajas is located just 13km (8 miles) northeast of Madrid.
Madrid Airport is a major International Airport which handled 52,143,275 passengers and 483,284 flights in 2007.

Terminal 1
Madrid Airport Terminal 1 is where most International Flights except Iberia and British Airways arrive and depart.
The following Iberia flights arrive in Terminal 4 : UK, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Holland, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden and Air Europa flights coming from France, Italy, and Portugal
Terminal 1 at Madrid Airport also has a good selection of shopping and eating facilities.
Transport & Transfers From Madrid Airport Terminal 1
You can catch the Madrid Airport taxis from the ground floor, just outside Madrid Airport arrivals and in front of gate 2.
To catch the Madrid Airport trains you need to go to Madrid Airport Terminal 2 via an internal walkway.
The Madrid Airport buses if you are arriving leave from the Ground Floor in front of Lounge 2. If you are arriving you will be dropped off on the first Floor in front of gate 2.

Terminal 2
Madrid Airport Terminal 2 handles all domestic Madrid Airport arrivals and Madrid Airport Departures. Terminal 2 at Madrid Airport also has a good selection of Shopping and eating facilities.

You can catch the Madrid Airport taxis from the ground floor, just outside arrivals in front of lounge 5.
To catch the Madrid Airport trains you need to go to the First Floor within this Terminal.
For The Madrid Airport buses, if you are arriving, leave from the Ground Floor in front of lounge 5. If you are departing they arrive on the Second Floor in front of Check in desks F4.
Terminal 3
Madrid Airport Terminal 3 handles all Spanair domestic and shuttle flights.
If you are travelling anywhere within Spain from Madrid then the chances are that you will use this Terminal.
This is the smallest terminal at Madrid Airport but still houses a large duty free, Aldeasa store with many concessions for you to peruse.

You can catch the taxis from ground floor in front of lounge 7.
To catch the Madrid Airport trains you need to go to the First Floor at Terminal 2.
The Madrid Airport buses arrive and depart from the ground floor in front of lounge 7.

Taxi Ranks At The Airport
To take a taxi you must go to the appropriate rank. Avoid any drivers who offer their services unsolicited inside the terminal buildings. The taxis here are metered so make sure that the taxi driver has started up the taximeter at the start of the journey (minimum fare) by putting the flag down and ask for a bill in the case of any complaint.
Minimum fee: Rate 1: Monday to Sunday, from 6:00 to 22:00 - €1.95: Rate 2: Monday to Friday from 22.00 to 06.00 - €2.15: Rate 3: Saturdays and holidays from 22:00 to 06:00 - €2.95.
Prices per kilometre: On working days, from 06:00 to 22:00, €0.92 per kilometre in zone A (rate 1); €1.06 in zone B (rate 2); from 22:00 to 06:00, €1.06 in zone A (rate 2) and €1.10 in zone B (rate 3).
On Sundays and public holidays (Capital City of Madrid), from 06:00 to 22:00, €1.06 per kilometre in zone A (rate 2); €1.10 in zone B (rate 3); and from 22:00 to 06:00, €1.06 in zone A (rate 2); €1.10 in zone B (rate 3).
Supplements: Journeys beginning or ending at the airport, including those within the airport grounds, €525.
Journeys originating or ending at bus stations, train stations or the Parque Ferial Juan Carlos I (IFEMA) fairs complex, €2.75
Journeys on 24 or 31 December, that end between 22:00 on those days and 06:00 on the following day, €6.50.

Madrid Airport Buses

Madrid Airport trains provide fast and cheap fares in and out of the City Center. They are both mainline and metro line trains running to and through Madrid Airport.
Left Luggage Store at Madrid Airport
There are three left-luggage offices at the airport in T1, T2 and T4. All baggage left at the left-luggage office passes through an x-ray checkpoint to verify that they do not contain dangerous items or objects. Prices vary depending on size and time, but as a rough guide the costs are: for one day €3.60 (large, medium and small locker); from two to five days: large locker, €4.64; medium locker, €4.13; small locker €3.61. Storage from day fifteen onwards: €185. Transfer to the warehouse: €37.08. Special baggage €4.64.
